Discover the Benefits of Earning the CRM/CIGO Certification!

by Cheryl L. Pederson, FAI, CRM Retired

(Inside ICRM (Newsletter) April 2022)

Thirty-five of your CRM colleagues have taken and passed the CIGO certification examination and have earned their CRM/CIGO specialty designation. Read what some of them are saying about the examination and the advantages of the credential:

The CRM/CIGO partnership is one of several key-value returns the Institute has provided to its members in the last few years. Information Governance (IG) has expanded and grown exponentially in the last decade. Obtaining the credential was a very effective way for me to elevate my IG skills and competencies while remaining under the ICRM umbrella for my professional certifications. The partnership with the Certified Information Governance Officer's Association (CIGOA) created a direct path for existing CRM members of the Institute to obtain the CIGO credential at a discounted rate for training and exam and an efficient way to manage the two certifications moving forward; it doesn't get any better than that!" Rae Lynn Haliday, MBA, CRM/CIGO

"The CIGO certification goes deep into data analytics and data valuation in addition to other IG domains. Determining the value of data and the story behind it is critical to organizational success." Andrew Ysasi, MS, FIP, FIIM, CIPM, CRM/CIGO, CISM, PMP, IGP, CIP, CSAP

"Taking and passing the CIGO course helped me gain important context and detail to governance and technology (and other adjacent RIM concepts) to be able to articulate challenges and solutions in large scale, cross-functional meetings. The CIGO designation after my name lends to my credibility so that others listen to what I say." Stephen Sykes, CRM/CIGO

"As the list of responsibilities for information governance and records management professionals grows, the CRM/CIGO certification demonstrates individuals in those roles have an understanding of the tasks and the skills to handle any new opportunity. The CIGO certification takes the CRM certification to the next level as its knowledge basis expands beyond the traditional records management world." Susan L. Marin, CRM/CIGO, PMP

ICRM's partner CIGO Association is offering the next 100% online Certified Information Governance Officer (CIGO) training and examination on May 16, 18, and 20, 2022.

Register now on the ICRM site to take advantage of the special rates and pay no CIGO Association application or membership fee. As a CRM/CIGO, you will be under the ICRM umbrella and will not be responsible for an additional membership fee from ICRM, but you will be required to earn an additional 20 CMPs and remain a CRM in good standing.

See https://www.icrm.org/CRM_CIGO for more information.
